except now that I know to look in the page title bar its just
duplication of information :-) isn't there some way to remove the
"choose a product.." text from the title bar?

I'd definitely say its not worth it.

except, possibly by bad chance, that iframe ends exactly at the bottom
of my browser window and all I can see is the big red error message, the
message telling me to press back and try again, and the standard page
footer - apart from the looking at the scroll bar there is no clue that
there is anything else to look at on the page.

for our intended use of the tracker I would completely remove this,
especially since it is so confusing. There should be little onus on the
causal user to check for duplicates - it is up to the product developers
to do so.
