I am currently investigating ways to make mozCellML more user friendly, and
ultimately more useful for the people that would use software of this kind.

I am therefore seeking input from anyone who has used mozCellML, or thinks
they
might want to use mozCellML in the future. The results from this survey will
be
used to make mozCellML easier to use.

This survey is not being conducted in a statistically valid manner, but
instead,
the idea is to seek feedback and identify broad consensus. Therefore, if you
have any general comments or suggestions relating to the user interface of
mozCellML, please feel free to include them here. I would be particularly
interested to know how these designs would interact with your likely
workflows.

Please refer to the attached PDF for detail on each of the options in this
survey(including pictures), or attach a diagram showing your own suggestion.

Question One:
What system should mozCellML provide to allow the user to arrange the various
parts of the interface on the screen?

1.A: Multiple desktop-level windows.
1.B: Multiple tabs, in a single document interface.
1.C: Tree guided, single document interface.
1.D: A big window with scrollbars.
1.E: Basic multiple document interface(MDI)
1.F: Tree controlled multiple document interface.
Or draw/describe what you think it should look like.

Question Two:
What should the relationship between the graph editor and the graphs, be?

2.A: Each in a separate pane/window
2.B: The graph editor is in a dialog box.
2.C: The graph editor is in the same pane as the graphs, with a splitter
between
them.
Or draw/describe what you think it should look like.

Question Three:
What should the user interface to configure individual graphs be like?

3.A: Users can drag variables from a list of all variables onto the axes. When
they are dropped, that variable is added to that axis. Variables can be
dragged
off the axis to remove them.
3.B: Users select a Y variable from one box, an X variable from another.
Or draw/describe what you think it should look like.

Question Four:
What should the interface to configure the arrangement of different axes on
the
screen be like?
Or draw/describe what you think it should look like.

4.A: Each graph should be in a different child window.
4.B: Each graph should be laid out on a grid of dimensions set by the user.
Or draw/describe what you think it should look like.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
Please send results to

Best regards,
Andrew Miller
