That was the original name (although I pronounced it P. C. E.), but (as
we discussed at a CellML meeting earlier this year), almost all the
three-letter abbreviations / acronyms are taken, including PCE. A Google
search for PCE comes up with:

Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment
Personal Computing Environments
Progressive Consulting Engineers
perchloroethylene
Personal Consumption Expenditures
Path Computation Element
PCE Ltd - Specialists in precast concrete and prefabricated systems for
the construction industry
The PC Engine
There is a whole list at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCE . Potentially
confusing examples are:
Partial Chemical Equilibrium
Principle of Computation Equivalence
Private Character Editor
Process Control Engineering

Basically, I think PCE has far too many meanings, some of which could
potentially be used in the same sorts of papers which might also discuss
results from running PCEnv. Given the generic nature of CellML, and the
fact that many disciplines in which CellML is used like to invent
acronyms and abbreviations, I think we should keep away from
three-letter names.

Best regards,
Andrew
