[cellml-discussion] "European" numeric characters??

The 1.2 specification defines numbers in terms of "European numeric characters". Why not specify numeric characters in terms of their Unicode codepoints? The everyday numeric characters we use are in fact Hindu-Arabic; European numerals include those of Greece and Rome.
