Hi,

Am I correct in saying that the only basis on which EnCORe (note the
capitalisations here and there; it stands for [En]hanced [C]omputing [O]pen
[Re]source, though I am sure it could stand for something else if needed) is
to be dropped is that it is already used for various computer-related
products?

If so, what about Prism from the Mozilla foundation (for those who don't
know, it's a XULRunner-based browser; see
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Prism)? We should probably tell them that
Prism is already used for loads of other computer-related products (see
http://tinyurl.com/5tskdc). Same goes with Thunderbird (see
http://tinyurl.com/5dgr4a). Yet...

My point is that if we are to wait until we find a name that is unique
enough then we may end up waiting for a very long time indeed. Then again,
we have been debating with this renaming issue for more than a year now,
so...

What matters most to me, though, is how the name rates among us. If people
like it, then maybe we should just go for it. After all, did you know of any
other computer-related products named EnCORe? I personally didn't and the
same with Thunderbird until I looked those names up. I did, however, know of
a couple of other Prism products.

Alan

PS: by the way, the name EnCORe is not for PCEnv as such, but for PCEnv/COR.
